The Camacho 10th Anniversary Corojo Edicion Limitada Robusto was a pretty good smoke. I must say that I was not expecting much from this cigar. You see I had tried the Camacho brand on several occasions in the past, and had at best, “mediocre” experiences with it. I was less than impressed with each one I smoked. I later found out from my tobacconist, that Camacho, a year or two ago was going through some blending changes. I’m not sure what the issues were, but I understood that these changes seemed to have turned away more than a few smokers. Now, I understand that most of these issues have been corrected, however, for obvious reasons, I was not really excited about trying one again. I decided to give Camacho another chance, when I was given one by a very dear friend (L/CPL Robert Nave, USMC), who by the way, is not a cigar enthusiast, but he knew I was and so he bought me one.
With an authentic Corojo binder, filler, and wrapper, this stick had an almost “simple” quality to it. The taste itself was bold and full, but there didn’t seem to be any clashing or fighting for flavor nuances, just cohesive well balanced consistency. The flavor was bold but it was not complex. It was straight forward and simple. It wasn’t over thought or over blended.
This stick was rolled well, very easy to lite and it held up to my punch without splitting or cracking. It had a pleasant smell right out of the plastic, and that smell didn’t change much after I lit it. The smoke was not especially thin or thick but just medium and seemed very soft in my mouth. It took me about an hour and ten minutes to enjoy this stick.
